Our Government is planning on spending an estimated 140 billion dollars on education this year. About 10 billion less than last year and more than 40 billion less than the years before. Yet 58000 teachers and education workers have been laid off in the past year, and more teachers are hearing word of impending lay offs, unions are being dismantled which would fire senior educators. But the most important issue is that our youth, the students are failing to meet goals that will help them compete in an ever changing global market. Other countries, even developing nations are lapping us in education. In a world where new ways of thinking are becoming the driving force of our world, how will our future be determined by our youth’s current education? In Mediasetfree’s next segment we will look at one educator and his out of the box struggle to give his students and others, the chance to be part of something big. Through a simple competition he raises the standard of excellence for his students and answers the important question, “How can one person plant the seeds of a better education for our youth?”
